Company leaders attend the special report meeting on "Huawei Cultural Core"

On the morning of February 28th, the second edition of Jining Private Economy Lecture Hall in 2015 was held at the Academic Lecture Hall of Shandong Institute of Technology. The lecture hall invited Zhu Shiyao, former deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Huawei, to give a special report on "Huawei Cultural Core". Zhou Hong, member of the Standing Committee of the Jining Municipal Party Committee and deputy mayor, Shi Zhonghe, and others attended the report meeting. Our company's chairman, Tian Mingge, executive general manager, Li Tinghong, and general assistant, Gu Jiyong, were invited to listen to the special report on site.

Mr. Zhu Shiyao, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Huawei, comprehensively explained Huawei's development philosophy and core values from the aspects of the company's development process, technological innovation, management innovation, and unique corporate culture. He cited a large number of cases of Huawei people's hard work, openness and innovation, which deeply inspired and touched the entrepreneurs present.
Mr. Zhu Shiyao introduced the entrepreneurial history of Huawei employees with two sets of numbers: "6 to 150000 people" and "21000 to 288 billion yuan". He analyzed in detail the cultural genes of Huawei from "ants" to "elephants" and systematically expounded Huawei's understanding of "innovation" and "enterprise fundamentals".

Mr. Zhu believes that strong continuous innovation capability is one of the key factors for Huawei's success. Huawei has always attached great importance to its huge and sustained investment in technological innovation, including manpower and capital investment. Huawei has over 70000 research and development personnel, accounting for 46% of the total number of employees; Huawei's annual R&D investment is no less than 10% of its revenue. In 2012, its R&D expenses were 30 billion yuan, in 2013 it reached 30.7 billion yuan, and in 2014 it was 40 billion yuan. Huawei invests 10% of its R&D expenses in forward-looking innovation research and development of technologies five years later. Currently, Huawei has 16 research and development centers and 28 joint innovation centers worldwide, holding 188 leadership positions in over 170 industry standard organizations.

Speaking of Huawei's open innovation in management, Mr. Zhu pointed out that we should view the world with a global and open mindset and introduce advanced research and development management systems. Zhu Shiyao said that in the past 20 years, Huawei has continuously strengthened open innovation in management, achieved world-class management practices and organizational changes, invited world-class management institutions to diagnose the pulse, and the consulting fees alone have reached billions of yuan. Speaking of his long-term experience in adhering to open innovation in management, Mr. Zhu quoted a passage from Mr. Ren Zhengfei: "Although we have made great progress in management and created high corporate efficiency, we have not truly realized the truth of the Western industrial revolution that has lasted for more than two hundred years. This passage is resolute and humble, and we can feel the strong driving force of Huawei people's persistence in innovation from it.

Afterwards, Zhu Shiyao introduced the true Huawei corporate culture, comprehensively interpreted the connotation of Huawei culture of "customer-centric and hardworking", and explained the basic points of "customer-centric", that is, serving customers is the only reason for Huawei's existence, customer needs are the driving force for Huawei's development, insisting on customer-centric, continuously creating long-term value for customers, providing effective services for customers, not seeking to maximize Huawei's interests, winning the respect of customers, establishing strategic partnerships with customers, and achieving customer success is achieving oneself. Huawei provides institutional guarantees, designs dual career development channels for employees, mobilizes the enthusiasm of technology and management personnel, and strengthens the concept of "striving for excellence".

Zhu Shiyao pointed out that core values are the cornerstone of corporate culture and the cultural genes of all successful enterprises. He made a concise summary of Huawei's core values: "openness and progress, self-criticism; hard work and customer achievement; teamwork, sincerity and trustworthiness". This is a cultural gene that all Huawei people have long adhered to and unanimously recognized, and it is also the internal driving force behind Huawei's progress to this day.

After the report, our company's trainees shared their learning experiences with each other on the way back. Everyone agrees that this training has broadened our horizons and broadened our thinking. Huawei's spirit of openness and innovation, as well as its culture of "customer-centric and hardworking", will deeply inspire us.

Chairman Tian emphasized that although our company and Huawei belong to different industries and have achieved far different results, our persistence in development, innovation, and cultural concepts coincides with Huawei's. This also confirms that our decisions and strategies are correct, and the key is the issue of further implementation. In the future, we must focus more on the environmental protection industry and persist in it; We must persist in technological innovation and management innovation; We should advocate a culture of "putting the strugglers first", internalize our corporate culture into the hearts of employees, externalize it into collective actions of employees, and solidify it into various rules, regulations, and mechanisms.
